Who we are?

Sabah Institute of Art is an established institution of higher learning specialized in Design & Music.

We established in Kota Kinabalu since 1990. Initially we offering only Diploma in Interior Design. In the continous years, we gradually expanded our curriculum to the Graphic Design, Architecture Design, Fashion Design and Music Studies, all at Diploma level.

What are we aim for?

Our objective is to promote the design and music in local market, meanwhile to provide professional training for the committed students.

We endeavors to ensure that graduating students have a solid academics foundation, as well as the practical skills, creativity and technical competency required for the music and design industries. The institute encourages experimentation, critiques and most of all, excellence in commit themselves in their career future.

Message from President

We now stands proud as one of the providers of quality higher education in Sabah.

As Malaysia moves towards k-economy era, education becomes even more important than ever before. Not any kind of education but quality education that prepares students to be multi-skilled, computer literate, conversant in English Language and able to grasp the rapid change in information technology, be it in the commerce, industry or academic field.

Our mission is to produce scholars, professionals and specialists in their respective fields, particularly in Art and Design, who would provide leadership and catalysts towards the development and improvement of universal well being. Our entire programs are designed to satisfy the requirements of Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). The Design and Music Diploma courses fulfill the membership requirements of the relevant professional bodies. All these will ensure our students are fully qualified and employable upon graduation. It is always our hope that we would be suitably poised to meet the challenges in its aspirations to become a university college and a leader in private education in Sabah and in East Malaysia, in line with the Prime Minister's vision for Malaysia to become a center for academic excellence.

I urge the youth of Malaysia to participate in the programmes offered by SIA and gear up to meet the challenges of transforming the country into a developed nation.

What we have achieved?

In 2003, we were awarded the Asia Pacific e-Entrepreneur Excellence Award 2003 for Excellence Leadership.

One of the objectives of this award is to feature substantially strong and stable business in the marker, with excellent performance in all fields, which pioneered in significant contributions towards the society. They would serve as a model in this age of e-economy and subsequently lead to the development of an Asia Pacific / Malaysian Credible Business Community.

This would improve the industry's overall image, and furthermore encourage other enterprises to actively participate in this area, to accept changes and innovate, and to establish competitive advantages, in order to embrace the challenges posed by the electronic–era.

Furthermore, our sixteen years of tireless labour should be recognised. At 23 November 2006, Kuala Lumpur, SIA has been honoured with the NAPEI Education Excellence Award in the small-size institution category by the National Association of Private Education Institutions (NAPEI).
