Diploma in Interior Design

Interior design may be characterized as a special art pertaining to the furnishing and enrichment of the interior of a building. A designer in this field should have a cultured mind in every sense of the word. The aesthetic and technical branches of interior decoration must of course be thoroughly understood. The Professional Interior Designer is thus defined as one who is qualified by education and experience to identify, research and creatively solve problems relative to the function and quality of man's proximate environment.

Interior Design is not only limited to work in the residential field. Besides design work for small and compact city apartment and large formal house, taste, personal needs, family life of his client. The designer would have to venture into design of Commercial and Industrial buildings such as stores and shops, hotels and restaurants, offices and operations plants.



Course Outline

The goal of this course is to nurture professional designers. Students will learn the aesthetic and technical skills required for professional practices. Students develop their abilities by working on individual projects emphasizing on the different aspects of practical work. This course covers all of the disciplines required by the Interior Design course such as function, structure, aesthetics, management and professional practice.

It also include furniture study, drawing, basic design, perspective, colour study, building construction and others. Interior Design students are provided with numerous opportunities during on-site visits to enhance their ability and learn from practicing professionals.
